            Wake Forest’s homebuilding has nearly screeched to a halt. The town issued only seven residential building permits in June.

          That brings the 140 new homes for the first half of 2008, 128 of them on the town’s water system, which is the important figure for those watching the town’s water allocation. The 12 homes that make the difference were built in the Richland Hills subdivision and are on the Franklin County water system.

          There is a lot of new commercial building – just look at the new office buildings along Rogers Road and the grading for two shopping centers, Gateway Commons on the bypass and the next phases of Wake Forest Crossing on Capital Boulevard.

          The following are the permits issued in June listed with the applicant first, the address next followed by the subdivision, the watershed and the estimated cost of construction. SFD is shorthand for single-family dwelling.
