          After a closed session that lasted almost two hours, the Wake Forest Town Board returned to the meeting room shortly after 11 o’clock Tuesday night and Mayor Vivian Jones announced they had decided not to accept owner Joel Young’s offer for the town to purchase the Wake Forest Golf and Country Club for $2.9 million.

The Growth Rate

Subdivisions in progress: This is an incomplete list but gives readers a taste of the residential building underway in town, which had a population of about 5,700 in 1990. The town’s planning department estimated there were over 25,000 residents in mid-2007. You can calculate 2.6 residents for each dwelling unit.
