Second office park, rezoning approved
Thursday night the Wake Forest
Planning Board approved a second office park, this one in the southwest corner
of the Siena Drive extension and the N.C. 98 bypass, and recommended rezoning a
one-acre tract along Harris Road at the corner of Capital Boulevard to match
the highway business zoning for the future Purnell Place shopping center. The
small tract will give the center access to Harris Road.
The second office park is being
planned by the Corporate Chaplains of America as their national headquarters.
They can build only one building under the Richland Creek buffer rules because
they have chosen the low-density option. If they purchase enough adjacent land,
they can build a second building.
The site plan submitted included a
five-acre pond and five acres of land the company does not own now but is
trying to purchase from the town, the J.L. Warren Park. (See separate article
in this edition.)
They are planning a park-like setting
with trails around the pond and a gazebo for contemplation.
Planner Ann Ayers said the development
plan will go back to the planning board for review.
The vote to recommend approval was six
to two with planning board members Ward Marotti and Keith Robbins voting no.
There was no discussion about the
rezoning request and the vote was unanimous. One member, Sarah Bridges, was
absent.
The board voted to re-elect Bob Hill
as chairman and Alphonza Merritt as vice chairman.
