Orientation included in annual retreat
Orientation for the three new members
of the Wake Forest Town Board will be part of the agenda for the board’s annual
planning retreat.
Mayor Vivian Jones, new commissioners
Anne Hines, Chris Kaeberlein and Peter Thibodeau, two-year veterans Frank Drake
and Margaret Stinnett along with Town Manager Mark Williams, Town Clerk Joyce
Wilson MCC and the town department heads will gather at Flaherty Park Community
Center next Thursday and Friday, Jan. 10 and 11.
All the department heads will explain
what their department does and how it operates, then answer questions. They
will also explain how they are using information from their own employees and
from residents to shape goals and set strategies to meet those goals.
This will be the ninth year the
commissioners have held a winter planning retreat. In the first year or two,
they explored how to relate to each other and to the staff; in recent years the
emphasis has been on wide-open discussions about finances, growth, the fire
department, trees, trash along roads and electric rates. (See the Jan. 17,
2007, issue of the Gazette for last year’s retreat.)
The retreat, which begins at 8:30 each
morning and will probably end about 5 p.m., is open to the public.
