Galleries, studios and shops will be
open late Friday, March 9, for Art After
Hours. Area residents are invited to
visit the shops and studios from 6 to 9
p.m. before visiting one of the downtown
restaurants for dinner.
There will be a reception at
the Sunflower Studio on East Jones
Avenue for Fay Krapf and her watercolor
and mixed media show, “Energy in Line
and Color.” The show will be on display
through April 7.
Local guitarist and singer
Arielle Bryant will perform that evening
for the studio visitors.
There will be a reception
and wine tasting at The Cotton Company,
where resident artist Dick Larsen will
be featured. His series, “Heartbreak
Hotel,” will be shown for the last time
in North Carolina.

The Cotton Company is
inviting people for a journey through
North Carolina wines. On Friday, March
16, Phillip J. Kirk, a North Carolina
business leader and wine enthusiast,
will join other representatives guiding
guests through the tastes of Tar Heel
wines.
The event will be from 7 to
9:30 p.m. and cost $20 per person.

Kirk, for those new to the
area, served 16 years as the president
of North Carolina Citizens for Business
and Industry, the state chamber of
commerce. He was also chief of staff for
Republican Governors Jim Holshouser and
Jim Martin and for U.S. Senator Jim
Broyhill. He is now vice president for
external relations at Catawba College in
Salisbury and works in business
development for the Yadkin Valley
Winegrowers Association. |
