            Wake Forest’s homebuilders are apparently still optimistic despite the troubles in the national housing market.

            After all, 98 people, on average, move into Wake County each day. On the other hand, some builders rush to get permits at this time of year to use next.

            During September builders were issued 75 permits for new homes, 45 single-family houses and 30 townhouses.

            This brings the nine-month tally to 513 new homes in town, a slowdown from recent years but still a rapid pace for a town that began the year with an estimated 10,000 homes of all types.

            There are, of course, just under 7,000 approved homes in town subdivisions remaining to be built.

            One of the signs of caution about the market may be the substantial rebates and incentives some builders are offering during the 2007 Wake County Parade of Homes.
