The B.W. Wells Association will hold its
annual meeting Sunday, Sept. 16, and
President John Pelosi invites all
current and prospective members to join
him that day at Rock Cliff Farm.
Jimmy and Alice Ray are
again hosting a pork barbecue lunch from
1 to 2 p.m., and this year Jimmy is
cooking the pig at the farm. He is
inviting anyone who would like to
experience an old-fashioned pig cooking
to come out early that day to help or to
observe the process.
After the lunch there will
be a short business meeting to elect new
officers and review current projects.
Kevin Schlesier, the
archivist at North Carolina State, will
speak about B.W. Wells and about his
experiences in developing the Wells
exhibit that is still on display at the
D.H. Hill Library on the State campus.
A number of native North
Carolina plants donated by the N. C.
Botanical Garden will be given as door
prizes, and there will be conducted
tours of the farm after the meeting.
Current members may renew
their memberships, which run from annual
meeting to annual meeting, and new
members may join.
In the unlikely event that
there is rain that day, the luncheon and
meeting will be held at the Stony Hill
Community House at the corner of Stony
Hill and Bud Morris Roads.
Pelosi is asking people to
tell him if they will attend so they can
plan for the food. Reach him at 556-3409
or
