Last week Boyd D. Crane withdrew from
the race for three seats on the Wake
Forest Town Board, leaving seven
candidates.
Those candidates are
Commissioners Velma Boyd and David
Camacho, former commissioner Rob
Bridges, Anne Hines, Chris Kaeberlein,
John Shoemaker and Peter Thibodeau.
Commissioner Stephen
Barrington chose not to run for
re-election. He is the executive
director of the Franklin County Chamber
of Commerce.
Crane said he had entered
the race because of his feeling the
incumbents needed opponents. “I just
don’t think anybody should run
unopposed.”
After the filing period
closed, “I found that of the eight
people running, I heard what several of
the others had to say. They said they
felt the same way I did,” Crane said.
He withdrew because he
thought the large field of candidates
would split votes and “would give the
incumbents an even better chance.”
Crane said he is waiting to
see what the other candidates do if they
are elected. “If they don’t do what they
say they’re going to do, I’ll run next
time. I felt something needed to be
done.”
The election will be
