The
second meeting for the Northeast
Neighborhood Plan will be held Monday,
Jan. 29, at 7 p.m. in the gym at the
DuBois Center.
Everyone in the
neighborhood, property owners and
interested people from all over town are
encouraged to attend.
In the first meeting in
December, residents raised a host of
issues, from housing to sidewalks to
speeders, and this second meeting will
begin to offer ways to address the
issues and plan for ways to reach goals.
There will also be reports on the
housing and economic development
analyses the consultants, Clarion
Associates from Chapel Hill, have
conducted.
The purpose of the
neighborhood plan is to develop ways to
enhance the social, cultural and
historical character of the area by
identifying the public services needed,
the physical improvements wanted and the
economic development opportunities that
would bring local services and jobs to
the area.
The Northeast neighborhood
is bounded by Roosevelt and Wait avenues
to the south and North White Street to
the west.
