The Wake Forest Police Department and
Target are joining forces to sponsor the
local National Night Out Tuesday, Aug.
7, and are hosting a National Night Out
Parking Lot Party from 5 to 10 p.m. at
the Target Superstore at 12000 Retail
Drive.
At the same time, the police
department will increase foot and area
patrols in many Wake Forest subdivisions
that night. Residents are encouraged to
lock their doors, turn on their outside
lights and spend the evening in the
front yards and streets discussing local
concerns with their neighbors and police
officers.
The party will offer safety
and security information. There will be
a child identification area where
parents can have their children
photographed and fingerprinted. Safe
Kids child safety seat technicians will
demonstrate how to properly install
child safety seats in vehicles, and
community crime prevention officers will
distribute information about vehicle and
home security and personal safety.
There will be a K-9
demonstration and a D.A.R.E.
presentation, and officers will provide
information about future Community Watch
initiatives and how to help new
neighborhoods develop their own
Community Watch programs.

holding a National Night Out event in
