Members honored at banquet

At the recent annual Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce banquet, a number of members were honored and the late H.L. Miller, a founder and longtime board member, was named to the Wake Forest Chamber Hall of Fame.

            The honored members were:

  • Andres Quintana of In Town Optical named as New Member of the Year.

  • VisionScapes was named the Small Business of the Year.

  • Cindy Hammond of Qualified Staffing Services was named Ambassador of the Year.

  • Annette Roberson of Embarq was named Volunteer of the Year.

  • The H.L. Miller Award for Director of the Year was presented to David Williams Sr., the outgoing board chairman.

Also, Jodi Ann LaFreniere is now in the South White Street chamber office fulltime as the new executive director. She was the former head of the Morrisville chamber.

She was at last month’s Business After Hours meeting members, and this month she will announce the teacher awards and raffle winners at Business After Hours.

The event, which will be Thursday, July 19, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. has had a change of address. Members should receive cards this week announcing it will be held at the Embarq Retail Store in the Capital Plaza Shopping Center near Home Depot and Staples.
