 Photographer, watercolorist
featured at Art After Hours

Two area artists, a photographer and a woman who specializes in water color portraits of children and pets, will be featured in Wake Forest studios Friday, July 13, for this month’s Art After Hours from 6 to 9 p.m.

The monthly event sponsored by the Downtown Revitalization Corporation draws people to the town’s historic downtown to socialize, ride a horse-drawn carriage along South White Street, shop in the stores which remain open until 9 p.m., look at art and handcrafts of all kinds and end with a meal at a downtown restaurant.

Durham photographer Dwayne Heubner has been taking pictures of the flowers in the Doris Duke Garden at Duke University, and some of his work will be on display at the Sunflower Studio on East Jones Avenue, just off South White Street.

“These are exquisite,” Sunflower owner Linda Burrell said of Heubner’s photographs and urged flower lovers to come to see them.

She and the others in the studio will be serving light refreshments and wine, and the music for the evening will be by local guitarist and teacher Mark Abbott.

The Cotton Company on South White Street will host a reception and wine tasting for July’s featured artist, Susan Espin. She is from New Orleans and now lives in the Triangle. In her water colors, her goal is “the idea of capturing one moment in time.”

Be sure to also visit the other shops which will be open that evening.
