Irrigation requests
top June permits |
|
The Wake
Forest Planning and Inspections office was
flooded with requests for in-lawn irrigation
plumbing permits during June, 93 in all.
No individual irrigation permits had been
reported in the first five months of 2007,
although the systems are included in the permits
for larger, more expensive homes in some
subdivisions.

Get a thrill
from Blueberry Hill |
|
Fats
Domino would really get a thrill from the
blueberries Louis and Shirley Jackson produce,
and the couple is sharing them with the
customers at Saturday’s Wake Forest Farmers’
Market.
Cleaned and graded, each plump dark blue berry
is sweet on the tongue by itself, ideal for pies
and cobblers and good for your health.

Home building
steady
but much slower |
|
After three years in which Wake Forest has seen
900 to over 1,000 homes added each year, the
building rate has apparently slowed.
For the first six months of 2007, permits for
only 336 homes have been issued, which could
mean an increase of under 800 new homes this
year. The town commissioners have set a goal of
800 or fewer homes each year to stretch the
water allocation in the merger contract with
Raleigh as far as possible. Earlier, it was
thought desirable to have a residential growth
rate of between 800 and 1,000 homes to pay off
the cost of water/sewer merger earlier.
