Just in time for the Fourth of July, the
vendors at the Wake Forest Farmers’
Market are having a picnic Saturday and
inviting you to sample the goodies.
On June 30 from 10 a.m. to
noon there will be savory treats at the
booths, all made from fresh market
ingredients. The vendors will even share
their recipes.
And how could you have a
picnic without deviled eggs?
Debbie Moose, a freelance food writer
for the News & Observer, will be at the
market with her deviled egg cookbook and
samples.
There will be music by the
band Bugfussle.
In addition, the raffle has
been extended until Saturday. The market
vendors are raffling off Domino’s Pizza
coupons, a beautiful beaded purse from
Sunny Side Up Tanning Salon and
Boutique, and a one-hour massage from
Heavenly Appearances. The prizes were
generously donated by downtown
businesses to help the market raise
money for the Wake Forest Fire
Department.
The market in the South
White Street parking lot will be open
from 8 a.m. to noon, offering an array
of locally-grown vegetables, fruit,
cheese, eggs and meat along with
fresh-cut flowers, plants, jams and
jellies, soaps and lotions, sauces,
pottery, pastries and desserts, garden
art, candles, and spreads.
Local Master Gardener
Volunteers are at the market each week
to answer questions about gardens and
plants.
