When was the last time you cracked an
egg laid by a hen who had roamed fresh
meadow grass? When did you last bite
into a snap bean picked that morning and
so fresh it really did snap? When did
you last cook a freshly-dug red-skin
potato and taste the sweetness?
It is the taste that brings
people back again and again to the Wake
Forest Farmers’ Market every Saturday.
They look forward to the
fresh local produce in season and the
specialties several vendors offer. Have
you tasted Chef Thom’s sauces and how
they complement pork, chicken and beef?
Have you tried Terri Wilkinson’s violet
syrup and jelly made with violets? Have
you sampled the fresh green garlic pesto
made by the folks at Flying Pig Farm? Or
the many flavors of cheese made by
SleepyGoat Farm?
There are fresh-baked
pastries, breads, pies and desserts
offered by a number of vendors along
with homemade jellies and jams.
Come to the market Saturday
and give your taste buds a treat.
The Wake Forest Farmers’
Market is open from 8 a.m. to noon in
the gazebo parking lot on South White
Street.
Local Master Gardener
Volunteers are at the market each week
