The award-winning president of the
Morrisville Chamber of Commerce has been
chosen as the new executive director for
the Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce and
will be in the office on South White
Street beginning July 9.
Jodi Ann LaFreniere was the
recipient of the 40 Under 40 Award and a
SPACE Award, both in 2005, for her work
in recruiting at the Lenovo Corporate
Campus. Before her seven years in
Morrisville, she was the president and
chief executive officer for the Greater
Valley Chamber of Commerce Inc. in
Shelton, Conn., her hometown.
“She brings extensive
experience in economic development,
education, job training and working with
local government to meet community
challenges,” Renee Shaw, the
chairman-elect for the Wake Forest board
of directors, said in making the
announcement.
Outgoing chairman David
Williams led the selection process to
find a successor for Mark Fleming, who
resigned this spring to become the vice
president of NCFREE.
“The chamber received a
large number of resumes from a very
qualified pool of applicants. “As a
proven chamber of commerce leader in
North Carolina and Connecticut, Jodi’s
experience is directly related to the
issues the chamber and town will face in
the years ahead,” Williams said. “The
board is very excited to bring such a
talented professional to work on behalf
of the greater Wake Forest business
community.”
LaFreniere said she was
delighted by the opportunity to work
with the board and chamber members in a
town that has grown tremendously in
recent years.
A graduate of Fairfield University in
Fairfield, Conn., LaFreniere has also
completed the U.S. Chamber of Commerce
six-year certification program for
chamber executives, the Institute for
Organization Management.
She lives in Raleigh with her husband,
Lowell, and their two daughters, Hannah
Zoey and Gabrielle. |
