Builders paid for 56 residential
building permits in May: 24 townhouses
and 32 single-family hones.
Those 56 homes make a total
of 267 homes that will be added to the
town in the first five months of 2007.
It is a rate lower than in some past
years.
However, the number of
residential permits – and the consequent
increase in population and demand for
water and services – will jump as soon
as the developers and builders buy the
permits for the 288-apartment Alexan at
Ligon Mill project and the 1,300-home
Holding Village. The Alexan developers,
Trammell Crow Residential, will probably
not obtain permits until 2008, but
Holding Village’s developer, Entrust
Holdings of Wake Forest and East West
Partners of Chapel Hill, are scheduled
for 100 permits this year.
