            The pace is slower than in recent years, but it will get a shot in the arm if the 288-unit Alexan at Ligon Mill apartment project and the 1,300-home Holding Village are approved by the planning and town boards this month. The developers for those projects envision construction starts in 2007.

            Planning Director Chip Russell’s spreadsheet listing active approved housing developments says there are almost 7,000 dwelling units that have not been built yet. That figure includes Alexan, Holding Village and 800 units for Andy Ammons’ Traditions neighborhood near the Smith Creek reservoir.

            April was the first month for a permit for a new, 34-unit residential subdivision, Saddle Run on Chalk Road. The developer, Royal Oaks Building Group, received a permit for a sales trailer.

            The following permits were issued in April. SFD stands for construct single-family dwelling, and the list gives the applicant, the type of permit, the address, the subdivision, the creek basin and the estimated cost of construction.
