They will be the voters, the homeowners,
the parents and the business people of
the future. Maybe they should have a
voice in their future now.
That idea is the starting
point behind the town’s first Wake
Forest Youth Forum that will be held
Saturday, April 14, from 9 a.m. to noon
at the Flaherty Park Community Center on
North White Street.
Mayor Vivian Jones suggested
the event and said she has been
interested in creating a youth advisory
board for some time.
“We are always interested in hearing the
views of young people,” Jones said. “I
believe that creating a youth advisory
board would be an excellent way of
giving our young people a voice in their
affairs, while at the same time getting
them involved in civic life.”
At this first forum, high
school students will be able to talk
about forming a youth advisory board and
how it should be organized.
Any area high school student who wishes
to attend the Youth Forum is urged to
pre-register by calling 554-6180. |
