Ninety years ago, in 1917, a group of
concerned citizens came together to form
the first Civitan Club.
Their vision for helping
others has grown across the country and
around the world, and now there are over
40,000 members in 24 countries.
The Wake Forest Civitan Club
is celebrating this important
anniversary here by conducting a
membership drive. Founded in 2001, the
Wake Forest Civitan Club has served the
area for over six years.
Local Civitan Clubs meet a
wide variety of needs in their
communities with an emphasis on helping
people with developmental disabilities.
Civitan International continues this
mission with a $20 million commitment to
its flagship project, the Civitan
International Research Center at the
University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Civitan is an international
association of local community service
clubs thathas grown to become one of the
world’s leading volunteer service
organizations.
