Genealogy program Thursday

A program about genealogy and how to find the branches in your family tree will be presented tomorrow night, Feb. 16, at the Wake Forest Public Library. The program is free and is made possible by the Friends of Wake Forest Public Library.

March is Youth Art Month, and the four libraries in the eastern part of Wake County, including the Wake Forest Library, are accepting applications and submissions from teen-aged artists and performers for an art exhibit that will open April 7.

The artists between 12 and 17 years of age can submit original artwork – painting, drawing, photograph, jewelry, wood carving, design, sculpture, digital art or another art form – to any of the four libraries between now and March 24. There is a limit of two entries per person.

The performers will be in the same age range and can present a five-minute act of dancing, singing, comedy, magic tricks, reading, juggling or other performance art. The teens will present their performances the evening of Friday, April 7, at the East Regional Library in Knightdale at the opening reception.

The art work will remain on display at the Knightdale library through Saturday, April 15, and will then be returned to the artists. There is more information about this, titled the East Regional Teen Art Explosion, at the Wake Forest, Wendell, Knightdale and Zebulon libraries as well as application and submission forms. Lindsey Dunn is the person to see at the Wake Forest Library.

The Wake Forest Library is again offering Twilight Tales, a monthly story time for all ages. On Thursday, Feb. 16, at 6:45 p.m. there will be stories about winter and snow – which may be happening somewhere in the country – and the opportunity to create your own snowperson. Registration is required; call 554-8498.

The 2006 Computer Workshops will run from February through June, and registration is required; call 554-8498.

The sessions are all on Saturdays from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and are:

-- Introduction to the Internet on Feb. 18

-- Microsoft Word on March 18

-- PC Basics on April 22
