Murchison plans to continue
DuBois programs

   Bettie Murchison, who has resigned and will step down as executive director for the DuBois Center at the end of this month, plans to continue most if not all of the center’s programs, including after-school tutoring, mental health counseling, job readiness for young adults, the school of the arts and others.

Winter blooms bring
breath of spring

   Mmmmm! I opened the door to the patio and caught a whiff of breath-of-spring. The warm winter days seem to carry lingering fragrances so clearly. Delicious fruity and sweet scents of flowering shrubs waft through the garden even in February. Realizing that a few years ago, I did a bit of nasal research and added some fragrant winter-flowering plants to my garden.

Reverse Raffle next big event

   The Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce’s biggest fund-raiser is the March Madness Reverse Raffle, sponsored this year by The News & Observer. It will be held on Thursday, March 2, at 6 p.m. at the Wake Forest Civic Center on Capcom Drive, and about 30 of the $100 tickets were still available early this week.

Youth baseball registration starts

Registration for this spring’s youth baseball and softball leagues began Monday and will run through Friday, March 13. Teams will be formed in late March, and practice will begin in April. The season goes from April through June.

Last Saturday at 6:30 AM, my husband experienced sever chest pains and I called 911. The paramedics from Wake Forest came immediately along with the Stony Hill Fire Department and saved my husband from what the doctors said was a major heart attack.
