The $10 tickets are now on sale for the
live auction of donated art – and other
items – that will benefit the DuBois
Center School of the Arts.
They can be found at the
Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce and
A Taste of North Carolina shops next to
each other on South White Street; at
jovi’s Kitchen & Market and Sunflower
Studio on East Jones Avenue; at Life is
Sweet, the confectionery story in The
Factory; and at the Purple Poppy florist
shop on South Main Street next to
McCracken Oil.
The tickets entitle each
person to heavy hors d’oeuvres provided
by the members of the DuBois Alumni
Association and two drinks at the event
which will begin at 6:30 p.m. Saturday,
March 4, at the DuBois Center. The
auction with auctioneer Louis Arthur
will begin at 7:30 p.m., and there will
be a short entertainment interval by
some of the cast members from this
spring’s musical, “Oliver!” The play
will be a presentation by The Road Less
Traveled, the theater group which now
calls the DuBois Center home.
All money from the sale of
the tickets, a raffle, the auction and
any donations will go to the school. The
center is nonprofit, and all donations
are tax deductible.
Only cash or checks can be
accepted – no credit cards – for the
auction because the DuBois Center does
not have the ability to process credit
cards.
Wake Forest resident John
Pelosi chose to celebrate his 70th
birthday by hosting the fund-raising
event.
Many local artists have
already agreed to donate their work, and
several other people plan to donate time
for a garden or kitchen consultation, a
quilt, pottery and other items.
