Beginning today, the Town of Wake Forest
will provide free residential energy
audits to its qualifying electric
customers.
The town created the program
to help its electric customers find ways
they can save energy and cut their
bills.
The audits take about two
hours and will be done on the second and
fourth Fridays of each month. The
homeowner must be present.
The audit will identify
energy wasters, such as:
- drafty windows
- not enough insulation
- humidity problems
- inefficient appliances,
and
- poor ventilation
The person doing the audit
will inspect the attic, insulation,
doors, windows, furnace, appliances and
other key areas. He or she will analyze
how the homeowner could make the house
more comfortable and save on their
electric bill. They will also recommend
cost-effective, energy-saving
improvements that will add to the
comfort and value of the home.
To request an audit, call or
see Drew Brown, the customer service
supervisor, at 554-6107. The audits will
be done in the order they were
requested. There are some restrictions,
and the town does not guarantee there
will be a lower electric bill as the
result of the audit. |
