Yvonne
Allen, the Wake Forest branch manager,
recently told the Friends of Wake Forest
Public Library that 410 new patrons
received library cards at this branch in
August and the branch circulated 43,000
books during August.
This kind of heavy use is
the reason the Friends have asked the
county library board to expand the Wake
Forest branch, but that expansion is not
planned at this time.
The Friends, however, will
help Allen in creating a Teen Corner, a
comfortable place for teens to read,
listen to audio books and take advantage
of the wireless internet in the near
future. The cost will be about $5,000,
money raised by the Friends through
memberships and the annual book sale in
May.
The Friends will also host a
birthday party for the library on Nov.
11, its tenth. Curators from the North
Carolina Museum of Natural Science will
present a program in English and Spanish
demonstrating a variety of reptiles.
There will be lots of scales and
slithers.
There will also be birthday
cake and punch. The festivities will
take place from noon to 2 p.m. that
Saturday, Nov. 11, and everything is
free.
The Wake Forest Library is
at 400 E. Holding Ave., and the phone is
554-8498. |
