Oct. 13 last day to register to vote

If you plan to vote in the Nov. 7 general election – and the editor’s opinion is that if young men and women have fought and are still fighting and dying for our freedoms, then we can at least vote – you have until the end of day Friday, Oct. 13, to register, change your party affiliation or change your address.

You can determine if you are properly registered to vote by going to the elections web site at http://www.wakegov.com/elections. The web site also has a form for absentee ballots you can download, a listing of all the one-stop voting sites with the times of operation, a list of candidates and a calendar of the election process.

There you will also find that you can now request an absentee ballot to be mailed to your address with no excuse necessary. The web site also has the telephone number for the Wake County Board of Elections office.

One-stop voting will begin Thursday, Oct. 19, at eight locations around the county and at the elections office. There will be no one-stop location in Wake Forest; the nearest is on Litchford Road. The Gazette will publish a complete list early in October.
