Old tree gets the ax, doctors
will plant 24 new

Commissioner Frank Drake pleaded for the 30-inch post oak, saying it had survived Floyd, Fran, Hazel, probably World War I, but the Wake Forest Town Board voted 3 to 2 Tuesday night to allow Village Family Care to cut it down to make way for their new office in Heritage Professional Park on Rogers Road.

CPC recommends Holding
Village to town board

By a 3 to 1 vote with Commissioner Frank Drake voting no, the Wake Forest Comprehensive Planning Committee agreed Tuesday morning to send the plans for Holding Village to the town board, which will have to make a decision about additional water from Raleigh to serve the planned businesses and 1,231 homes.

advertising

Publisher and editor Carol Pelosi has begun selling advertising for The Wake Forest Gazette.
Sales had ceased last year when she was ill and had to suspend publication, and the advertising banners currently at the top of the page are left over and out of date.
She is offering two simple affordable plans for businesses who want to advertise. The rotating banner costs $75 a month, and the listing in the business index costs $25 a month. For details, call her at 556-3409 or send a message to cwpelosi@aol.com.
The free online newspaper has a monthly average of 6,379 individual hits, and Pelosi wants to thank all her readers.

Board finds agreement
on tree-trimming

Tuesday night a potentially confrontational discussion about the town’s tree-trimming practices turned into a discussion about the best ways to tell town residents about the need to trim trees and keep trees, shrubs and ornamental grasses away from the pad-mounted transformers for underground electric service.

paying utility bills

The town will no longer pay the water, sewer and electric bills for the gym at the DuBois Center owned by the National Alumni Association of DuBois High School and the Calvin Jones House owned by the Wake Forest College Birthplace Society.

Moody’s ups town’s
rating by 2 steps

A national credit rating agency, Moody’s, yesterday improved the rating for the Town of Wake Forest by two steps, taking it from A2 to Aa3, an action that was announced at the beginning of Tuesday night’s town board meeting.
