Harding, the town’s accounting services
manager, was named as the 2006 Employee
of the Year by Town Manager Mark
Williams during Saturday’s family fun
day for employees.
“I was standing st the
registration table with a co-worker
trying to figure out who Mark was
describing,” Harding said. “When Mark
said, ‘and she’s not paying attention to
me,’ I realized I had been selected.
Aileen Staples, the finance
director and Harding’s supervisor,
nominated her. Staples said Harding is
“a model employee” and “the most
organized person I’ve ever known.”
Harding has been with the
town for six years. A Pleasant Hill
native, she worked for Blue Cross and
Blue Shield for 20 years after
graduating from Winston-Salem State
University.
“Changing from the private
sector to local government has been a
great career move,” she said.
Staples said, “Her
professional development in local
government finance has been fun to
watch. In regard to her confidence level
now compared to when she first got here,
it’s like she’s almost an entirely
different person.” Staples also said
Harding is “always willing to go above
and beyond to help anyone and do what’s
best for the town.”
