The Road Less Traveled Theatre, which
has adopted Wake Forest as its home
base, plans a production of “Poe: The
Elevation of Decay” early in November.
Auditions will be held Tuesday, Sept.
19, for six cast members.
The play is an original
adaptation of some of Poe’s best-known
works. It will be performed in the round
close to the audience as both readings
and dramatic scenes.
The auditions will be held
at the RLTT’s office at 525 S. White
Street from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Three women
and three men are needed for this play,
one each aged 17 to 26, one each aged 30
to 45 and one each 40 or older.
John Henry DeJong, the
information director, said candidates
should have two pieces prepared: 12
lines from one of Poe’s poems and four
paragraphs from a story by Poe. The
greatest focus should be on the delivery
of the material.
“This is a chance to perform
in front of a discerning and cultured
audience with a very particular interest
in this sort of material, and we look
forward to crafting a performance they
won’t forget,” RLTT’s Executive Director
Kevin Holmes said. “Each person on the
stage is going to have a chance to make
an impact.”
