The
Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce has
mailed a survey to its members, asking
for their views on the $970-million
school bond that will be on the Nov. 7
ballot.
The chamber’s government
affairs taskforce sponsored a forum on
the issue that was telecast locally on
Channel 10 and will be repeated every
Thursday at 8 p.m. You can also access
the audio by going to the events page on
the chamber’s web site or by clicking on
http://www.wakeforestchamber.org/events_dtl.asp?id=25.
The 14th Annual
Chamber Golf Tournament will be held
Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Heritage Golf
Club.
Tresa Jalot, the chamber’s
deputy director, says you had better
register soon as slots are filling fast.
Go to
http://www.wakeforestchamber.org/
events_dtl.asp?id=18 for a
registration form and more information.
The deadline is Sept. 1.
Jalot and others at the
chamber are busy planning Community
Business Expo 2006 sponsored with The
Wake Weekly, which will be held
Thursday, Oct. 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. at
The Factory on South Main Street. More
than 1,000 people attended last year. It
is time now to register as a sponsor
and/or to reserve a booth. The deadline
is Sept. 30.
The chamber is also still
soliciting sponsors for the Chamber
Chalice awards given each month during
Business After Hours to a teacher from
the Wake Forest, Rolesville and
Wakefield schools. Each teacher receives
$200 with the award; two sponsors are
needed each month as the cost for
sponsors is $100.
Several businesses have
responded, but Jalot still needs one
sponsor for each of these schools:
Forest Pines Elementary, Franklin
Academy I-II, Franklin Academy III-IV,
Jones Dairy Elementary, Rolesville
Elementary, Wake Forest Elementary,
Wakefield Elementary and Wakefield
Middle.
Call Jalot at 556-1519 or
tresa@wakeforestchamber.org if you
can be a sponsor. |
