Stories and activities for children and
parents – Twilight Tales at the Wake
Forest Public Library – will return on
Thursday, Sept. 21, with a Back to
School Bash. Participants will enjoy
old-fashioned classroom games,
school-theme crafts and stories about
teachers and school.
On Thursday, Oct. 19, Twilight Tales
will be a Halloween Happening-Dare to
Dress Up Party with games, crafts and
fun.
The third event will be
Turkey Tales on Thursday, Nov. 16, when
there will be riddles, trivia, games and
stories all about turkeys.
All ages are welcomed for
the fun that begins at 6:45 p.m. You
must register for the stories by
stopping by the front desk.
Next week will see the
return of a program for school-age
children, School Age Adventures. For
kindergarteners and up, the program has
a variety of songs, stories and
activities and is held each Monday at
4:30 p.m. Again, registration is
necessary.
This is also time for teens
12 to 16 to sign up for the Teen Library
Corps. The young people help the
librarians with various tasks. This is a
good way to earn credits toward the
community service required at high
schools, and the teens are rewarded with
parties, T-shirts and gift certificates.
Information and applications are
available at the circulation desk.
They may not be able to read
yet, but infants and toddlers can enjoy
activities at the library.
Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. Baby &
Me provides songs, finger plays, short
rhymes and books for infants 6 to 18
months and their caregivers.
Wednesday and Thursdays at
9:30 a.m. Time for Toddlers offers
stories and songs for children 18 to 36
months.
Wednesdays and Thursdays at
10:30 a.m. Fun for Preschoolers is the
time for stories, songs and games for
children 3 through 5 years of age.
Lindsey Dunn, who has been
the children’s librarian at the Wake
Forest Library for several years, has
moved to the Eva Perry Regional Library,
and there is no word about her
replacement.
The Wake Forest Library, a
