Tuesday night, Aug. 1, the Wake Forest
planning and town boards will hold a
joint public hearing about rezoning 18.9
acres along Rogers Road to R-8,
residential zoning requiring at least
8,000-square-foot lots, for a 60- to
65-lot subdivision.
Later this month, the town
board will vote on annexing that tract.
The consideration of annexation has been
delayed until after the rezoning hearing
and the presentation of the master plan.
The subdivision would be
developed by Willfair, a corporation
formed by Assistant Fire Chief David
Williams Jr., David Faircloth and Steve
Faircloth, who are not related. Williams
owns Williams Custom Building where
David Faircloth is a superintendent.
Williams and the Faircloths
were the first developers to approach
the town with plans to conserve water in
their subdivision. During the April
comprehensive planning committee, the
trio agreed to plant drought-resistant
grass on lawns, install water-saving
appliances in the homes and use only an
alternate source, not the town’s water
system, to irrigate lawns.
The land is now zoned R-30
by Wake County.
Also on the agenda for the
meeting which begins at 7:30 p.m. in
town hall is consideration of the master
plan for Wake County’s Northern Regional
Center on land along East Holding Avenue
between the post office and the library.
County officials said last
week construction for the center should
start in October and the completed
center should open in November of 2007.
There will be a wide range
of county services available in the
center, but focus groups and community
input will be used to determine local
needs and the amount of space for those
services.
The planning board will make
a recommendation about each item which
will then be acted on by the town board
when it meets Aug. 15. |
