Art
for art’s sake? Yes, indeed, if it is
donated art (and other items) that are
auctioned off to benefit an art school.
Wake Forest resident John
Pelosi will celebrate his 70th
birthday in March, and he decided the
best way to do so is with the art
auction on Saturday, March 4, at the
DuBois Center. The money raised from the
auction, the $10 tickets, and any
donations will go toward the fledgling
school of the arts which will eventually
be housed in the Byrne Building on the
17-acre campus.
Many local artists have
already agreed to donate their work, and
several other people plan to donate time
for a garden or kitchen consultation, a
quilt, pottery and other items.
Donations will be tax-deductible because
the DuBois Center is a nonprofit
organization.
Anyone who wishes to donate
can call Pelosi at 556-3409.
The evening will begin at
6:30 with heavy hors d’oeuvres provided
by the members of the DuBois Alumni
Association and drinks. The auction with
auctioneer Louis Arthur will begin at
7:30 p.m.
Tickets will be available
soon at several locations in town. |
