 Precinct 19-07 site
moved to Flaherty Park

There was an error in last week’s issue of the Gazette. There is not a new voting precinct in Wake Forest as was reported. Instead, the location for precinct 19-07, which had been at the Alston-Massenburg Community Center on Taylor Street, has been moved to the J.B. Flaherty Community Center at 1226 N. White St.

Those voters who have been going to Alston-Massenburg will receive a notification in the mail this summer before the Nov. 7 general election. Voters must cast their ballots at their assigned precinct.

Brenda Fowler with the Wake County Board of Elections said the reason for the move was accessibility for people with handicaps. The Wake Forest Parks and Recreation Department, which operates both centers, was not able to increase the length of the wheelchair ramp to meet federal accessibility standards.

“We’re actually just changing from one location to another in the same precinct,” Fowler said.

County residents who receive new cards from the Wake County Board of Elections addressed to previous owners or tenants are asked not to open the envelopes but instead write on it that the person no longer lives at that address and give the letter back to the postman.

For other information about voting and precincts, call the elections board at 856-6240 or go to http://www.wakegov.com/elections.
