 Help downtown
by writing a letter

Do you want Wake Forest’s historic downtown area to thrive and prosper? Do you support the Renaissance Plan’s vision for downtown?

The Downtown Revitalization Corporation is applying to the North Carolina Main Street Program, which fosters the community connection between economic development and historic preservation. If the DRC is successful, it will get technical assistance for the Renaissance Plan with a comprehensive program of organization, promotion, design, and economic restructuring. Other communities who have been chosen for the program have learned how to recruit new businesses and rehabilitate buildings, as two examples.

The evaluation of the application includes visible community support, based on letters from business people, organizations and residents. The DRC is asking that you write a letter describing what downtown Wake Forest means to you by July 15 and mail it to: Wake Forest DRC, P.O. Box 78, Wake Forest, N.C. 27588.

Go to http://www.ncdca.org/mainst to learn more about the Main Street program

If the DRC is named to the Main Street program, it will be overseen by the DRC’s first full-time executive director, Connie A. Kincaid. She will come to town with 20 years of experience, most recently in Concord, which saw substantial development in its 26-block commercial district under her leadership.

Kincaid is now commuting, working here part-time while concluding some personal business in Hickory and finding a permanent home in Wake Forest. She will be here full-time no later than Aug. 1.
