health park near WF

Rex Healthcare will open a wellness center and health care facility in early 2008 as part of a larger health park that will include a Harris Teeter, other retail, hotels and a library.  Click here for the complete story

Planners OK birthplace plan
with tree-saving provision

Tuesday night the Wake Forest Planning Board approved a master plan for the museum annex and bathroom building at the Wake Forest College Birthplace (the Calvin Jones House) on North Main Street with a provision to preserve the existing trees at the rear of the 4.5 acres that serve as a sound buffer for the CSX railroad. Builders receive 156 residential
permits in May

Wake Forest Cultural Arts Association, the planned museum annex at the Wake Forest College Birthplace and the Wake Forest Boys and Girls Club should receive some town assistance, the town board seemed to decide last Wednesday night during a budget work session.

Wake Forest’s tax base grew from $1.5 billion for 2005-2006 to $1.753 billion for the coming fiscal year – and that does not count the homes and shops under construction that will go on the tax rolls during the year.

Town will celebrate the Fourth
on July 3 and 4

Monday and Tuesday, July 3 and 4, will be busy and days in Wake Forest.
Monday night the all-volunteer Fourth of July Committee will throw open the gates at Trentini Stadium at 6 p.m. for the entertainment and fireworks show.
