 Politicians turn out
for chamber reception

            Elected officials from Congress to the town board turned up Tuesday morning at The Cotton Company when the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its first legislative reception.

            Those attending the informal breakfast meeting were representatives for U.S. Senators Elizabeth Dole and Richard Burr, 13th District Congressman Brad Miller and North Carolina Governor Mike Easley.

            Attending in person were North Carolina Senator Neal Hunt and Representatives Rick Eddins and Lucy Allen.

            On the Wake County level, Tony Gurley, the chairman of the county commissioner board attended as did Ken Gardner, Phil Jeffreys and Betty Lou Ward, who represents the northern district. Assistant County Manager Joe Durham also attended.

            New school board member Lori Millberg was on hand along with Jessie Taliaferro, a member of the Raleigh City Council.

            Wake Forest Mayor Vivian Jones greeted the guests, which included Commissioners David Camacho, Stephen Barrington, Frank Drake and Margaret Jones Stinnett. Former commissioner Rob Bridges also attended along with Town Manager Mark Williams and communications specialist Bill Crabtree.

            The Forks Cafeteria provided the scrambled eggs, bacon, grits, biscuits, juice and coffee.
