Wake Forest Police Chief Greg Harrington
has hired Charles Mosier as the town’s
part-time parking enforcement officer,
and the repercussions have already
begun.
Commissioner Frank Drake
said Tuesday during the Wake Forest Area
Chamber of Commerce’s legislative
reception that he had received at least
one call from a Wake Forest-Rolesville
High School student who was very upset
that his car, parked on the street, had
been ticketed.
The town board recently – at
the request of residents living along
those streets – enacted two-hour parking
limits on the streets near the high
school and the Southeastern Baptist
Theological Seminary campus. Seminary
officials pledged to help with the
parking limit enforcement, but at the
time the town lacked a parking
enforcement officer.
“Charles will police the
entire town, including the parking lots
in all shopping areas. He will
specifically monitor parking violations
in handicapped and fire lanes,”
Harrington said.
Mosier will also keep a
record of the tickets he issues, record
those who pay their fines, make sure
those who do not pay receive a reminder
ticket, and take to court those
individuals who do not pay their fines.
Mosier, a former law
enforcement officer, has served in law
enforcement agencies across the county,
including the Montgomery (Md.) County
Police Department, the Greeley (Colo.)
Police Department, the Rodgers (Calif.)
Police Patrol and the San Diego (Calif.)
County Public Defender’s Office. |
