Last weekend’s Meet in the
Street was a great success, Mark
Fleming, the chamber’s executive
director, said. “We had great crowds,
and they seemed to be happy vendors.
When the weather cooperates, it makes
all the difference in the world.”
Fleming said they are still
working on the organization with a
couple improvements this year. The
vendors were given staggered times to
arrive and set up and were instructed to
enter South White through Owen Avenue.
“We had more volunteers than we ever
had, thirty-eight, and we had good
support from our chamber board.”
Fleming said the chamber
netted about $12,000 from the event. “It
is a labor of love.” Most of the money
comes through sponsorships. |
