 Chamber news
Renovations unveiled May 16

The paint, the carpet, the new furniture – all of the renovations to the Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce office – will be unveiled at noon Tuesday, May 16, with a ribbon-cutting.

Included in the invitation were special thanks to Manor House Carpets, Jarco Supply, Williams Custom Building and Stony Hill Cabinetworks.

This year’s annual chamber banquet will be held Thursday, May 25, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at North Ridge Country Club on Falls of the Neuse Road. Individual tickets are $50 and a sponsor for an eight-person table will spend $650.

The event is sponsored by Franklin Regional Medical Center. Chamber members are asked to respond by Friday, May 19.

Last weekend’s Meet in the Street was a great success, Mark Fleming, the chamber’s executive director, said. “We had great crowds, and they seemed to be happy vendors. When the weather cooperates, it makes all the difference in the world.”

Fleming said they are still working on the organization with a couple improvements this year. The vendors were given staggered times to arrive and set up and were instructed to enter South White through Owen Avenue. “We had more volunteers than we ever had, thirty-eight, and we had good support from our chamber board.”

Fleming said the chamber netted about $12,000 from the event. “It is a labor of love.” Most of the money comes through sponsorships.
