 Ranger’s sixth Wildathon
raises cash for Audubon Society

Brian Bockhahn, a very active Falls Lake State Park Ranger, will hold his sixth 24-hour Wildathon on May 4-5 to raise money for the New Hope Audubon Society.

The Wildathon is a count of birds, animals, insects, fish and wildflowers at Falls Lake from 6 a.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday. “Being an insomniac pays off sometimes,” Bockhahn said.

He raises the money through pledges for each group counted. For instance, if you want to donate a dollar for every reptile he counts and he finds 10 of them, the donation will be $10. He will also accept flat dollar amounts.

The New Hope Audubon Society uses the money raised go to the Mason Farm Biological Reserve and the North Carolina Coastal Islands Sanctuary. You can read about both and find a pledge form at http://www.bwwells.org/wildathon. You can also reach Bockhahn at cbockhahn4@earthlink.net or at 676-1027.
