Wake County Solid Waste Management has
begun its annual telephone book
recycling just as residents are
receiving telephone books from six
different companies that operate in the
county.
There are 21 drop-off sites
across the county including two in the
north Wake area: Rolesville Elementary
School on U.S. 401 and the Wake Forest
Operations Center on Friendship Chapel
Road. The sites will be open until May
1.
The county wants the
telephone companies to practice
environmental stewardship and take
responsibility for recycling those hefty
books. This year Sprint and Triangle
Regional Directory have donated funds to
help pay for the recycling program.
The waste management staff
also encourages people to use searchable
on-line directories as a fast and
convenient alternative to the books.
Three of the directories are:
Sprint:

Talking Phone Book:
www.talkingphonebook.com
Verizon:
www.superpages.com
Last year, more than 455
tons of telephone books were recycled.
