 Former chief justice and others
appointed to advisory boards

Recently retired Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court I. Beverly Lake Jr. was one of 16 people appointed to Wake Forest advisory boards Tuesday night.

Lake was one of four applicants for five vacant seats on the cemetery board. Also appointed were Frank Smith, Myra Parker and Cristie Dowda. The application process is still open for anyone who wants to apply for the board, which has just been expanded from five to nine members.

The fit was snugger for the greenway board, a totally new board with nine openings and nine applicants. Those appointed were Joseph Seigler, Bob Johnson, Jeff Poupart, Stephanie Jenny, Jan Ammons, Greg Hoit, Debora White, Edwin Gary and Andrea Purdy.

Leesa Finley, the only applicant, was appointed to the vacant seat on the historic preservation commission, and Tim Roth was appointed to the vacant seat on the human relations council.

The town commissioners also an erosion and sedimentation control ordinance the town inspectors will enforce. The version approved by a three to two vote, with Commissioners David Camacho and Stephen Barrington voting no, will require enforcement of the ordinance for all land clearing of half an acre or greater.
