Doug Walston
Doug Walston, 74, of Wake Forest died Sunday, August 22, 2010, at Wake Medical Center.
He was born in Wilson County, the son of the late Effie Godwin Walston and Adolph Oscar Walston. Mr. Walston was a retired lineman with Wake Electric and was a veteran of the North Carolina National Guard.
 Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, August 25, 2010, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Leslie Hartsfield officiating. Burial was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
     Mr. Walston is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pat Walston; sons, Glenn Walston and wife, Rhonda, of Wake Forest and Mike Walston of Youngsville; sister, Hazel Wainwright of Snow Hill; and brothers, Phillip Walston and Luther Walston, both of Snow Hill, Ray Walston and Donnie Walston, both of Maryland, Ben Walston of Michigan and Adolph Walston of Selma.

Helen Snead Carter
Helen Snead Carter, 83, of 4094 Oak Circle, Franklinton, died on Saturday, August 21, 2010, at Franklinton Regional Hospital.
he was born in Mecklenburg County, Va., the daughter of the late Willie Frank and Estelle Snead. Helen was an excellent cook. Her favorite dishes were her soup and her chicken and dumplings

A visitation and memorial service was held Thursday, August 26, 2010, at her home.
Mrs. Carter is survived by her sisters, Nora Saunders, Bessie Strange and Rose Lee Duckworth, all of Virginia; brothers, Thomas Snead and Gene Snead, both of Virginia; children, Joyce Jackson of Youngsville, William “Bill” Toone of Zebulon, Carrol Dellinger of Franklinton, Linda Marshall and husband, Linwood, of Wake Forest, Tony Carter and wife, Jeannie, of Franklinton, Tim Carter and wife, Melissa, of Franklinton, Becky Light and husband, Buddy, of Wake Forest and Neal Carter and wife, Sheila, of Franklinton; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild that is due in two months.
he was preceded in death by her son, Donnie Toone, and by his wife, Patricia, of Kittrell; her husband, Alfred Earl Carter; son, Donnie Yancey Toone; grandson, Michael Toone; and infant son, Jackie Earl Carter.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Mrs. Carter’s granddaughter, Gail Burke, for her special help and kindness shown to the family.

Rita Gallagher
Rita Gallagher, 80, of Raleigh, died Friday, August 20, 2010, at Wake Medical Center.
he was born in Essex County, N.J., the daughter of the late Mary Davis Filan and Henry F. Filan, and was a homemaker.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, August 24, 2010, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with Pastor David Huffman officiating. Burial was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Gallagher is survived by her husband of 60 years, Frank Gallagher; daughters, Rita Gallagher of Las Vegas, Pat Wilson of Longmont, Colo., and Eileen Smith of Glenwood, N.J.; a son, Frank Gallagher Jr. of Raleigh; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Sherry Jernigan Woodyard
herry Jernigan Woodyard of Raleigh died Friday evening, August 20, 2010, at Hospice of Wake County in Raleigh.
he was born in Guilford County, the daughter of Ruth Shepherd Jernigan and the late Julius Hilton Jernigan.
Funeral services were held at 4 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, August 24, 2010, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Coffey officiating. Burial was in the Wake Forest Cemetery.
Mrs. Woodyard is survived by her husband, John S. Woodyard; son, Julius Wade New of New Jersey; step-son, Jeff Woodyard and wife, Melody; step-daughter, April Woodyard; mother, Ruth Jernigan of Wake Forest; sisters, Cecile Chappell and husband, Wallace, of Raleigh, Joyce Turner and husband, Mack, of Wake Forest and Teresa Christian of Garner; brothers, Ralph Bradshaw and wife, Gloria, of Auburn, N.Y., and Jerry Jernigan of Wake Forest; nieces, Holly Turner Bailey and husband, Dr. Donald Bailey, Hannah Christian, Danielle Christian; nephews, Matthew Short, Stefen Christian, Jerry Jernigan Jr., John Luke Christian, Jonathan and Christopher Bradshaw, Seth Turner; great-nephews, Isaac and Eli Bailey; and step-grandchildren, Ashley and Ryan Woodyard.

Norma D. Estes

Norma Dillard Estes, 92, of Wake Forest, died Friday, August 20, 2010, at the Guardian Care of Zebulon.
he was born in Orange County, the daughter of the late Hattie O’Neal Dillard and Pelic Dillard, and was a member of Woodland Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon, August 23, 2010, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Tommy Seedorf officiating. Burial was in Woodland Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Estes is survived by her sisters, Blanche Edwards of Franklinton and Ruby Corley of Burgaw, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emul Estes; brothers, Clifton Bailey Dillard and Norman S. Dillard Sr.; sister, Beatrice Wilson; and by her half-sisters, Iva Wilson and Floy Wyatt.
Pallbearers were Harry Wilson, Arnold Wilson, Norman Dillard Jr., Randy Dillard, Earl Dillard and Brian Dillard.

Pauline Eichmann Binkley
Pauline Eichmann Binkley, aged 101, of Wake Forest, the wife of the late Dr. Olin T. Binkley, former President of Southeastern Seminary in Wake Forest, died Saturday, August 28, 2010.
he was born April 1, 1909, the daughter of the late Werner and Bertha Pieper Eichmann of New Haven, Conn. 
Mrs. Binkley was a member of the Wake Forest Baptist Church and had served as church clerk, deacon and a member of the history committee. She was active in community clubs, projects and from 1976-1992 was director, treasurer, membership and acquisition chairman of the Wake Forest College Birthplace Society. She was instrumental in the restoration of the historic house.
 Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock Saturday morning, September 11, 2010, at Wake Forest Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Bill Slater and the Rev. Dr. Tom Jackson officiating.
Mrs. Binkley is survived by her daughters, Pauline Binkley Cheek of Weaverville and Janet Binkley Erwin of Tallahassee, Fla.; five grandchildren, Edith Cheek McDowell, Edwin Binkley Cheek, Elizabeth Cheek Rives, Vicki Erwin-Wilson, Gill Binkley Erwin; thirteen great-grandchildren; and by her sister, Beatrice Minson of Connecticut.
 In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wake Forest Baptist Church, 118 E. South Ave, Wake Forest, NC 27587 or the Wake Forest Birthplace Society P.O. Box 494, Wake Forest, NC 27587.

John Tyler Parker Jr.
John Tyler Parker, 82, of Raleigh, died Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Rex Hospital. He was born in Wake County, the son of the late John Tyler Parker Sr. and Annabelle Williamson Parker, and was a veteran of the United States Navy.
A memorial service will be held at 2 o’clock, Thursday afternoon, September 2, 2010, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mildred Carter Parker; daughter, Belinda Parker Talley and husband, Lew, of Wake Forest; sister, Frances Cvetezar of North Riverside, Illinois; and grandchildren, William “Will” Lewis Talley Jr. and Melissa Hope Talley, both of Wake Forest. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Louis Parker and Walter Parker.

Wilbur B. Grissom
Wilbur Britt Grissom, 80, of 1602 Wayside Farm Road, Franklinton, died Saturday, August 28, 2010.
He was born in Franklin County, the son of the late Luther and Mamie Frances Grissom. Mr. Grissom was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was retired from Burlington Industries.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon, August 30, 2010, at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Robbin Taylor officiating.
Mr. Grissom is survived by his daughter, June Ashworth; granddaughters, Amy Allen and Jeana Ashworth; grandsons, William Ashworth and Dustin Ashworth; great-grandchildren, Justin Allen, Sarah Ashworth and Christopher Davis; sister, Catherine Gregory; and a special niece, Margie Shearon. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Privette Grissom; by his second wife, Helen Davis Grissom; and by his longtime friend, Ferbee Preddy.
Pallbearers were Jody Bell, Thomas Duwe, Michael Allen, Chris Davis, Pat Keith and Bill Pillard.

Mack Lloyd Barnhill Sr.
1935-2010
Mack Lloyd Barnhill Sr., 75, of 120 Beech Cove, Youngsville, passed away peacefully at his home Friday, August 27, 2010, after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born in Columbus County, the son of a Noah M. D. Barnhill and Rose Ella Barnhill, and was a longtime member of South Main Baptist Chapel. He was co-owner/operator of Area Cab Transportation with his wife, Ann, and son, Mack.
Funeral services were held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2010, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Vassar officiating. Entombment was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Barnhill was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Ann Barnhill; six brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his siblings, Edna, Pauline, Thelma and Elsie; children, Mack L. Barnhill Jr., and his wife, Carol, of Raleigh, Jeffery D. Barnhill and his wife, Charlotte, of Swansboro, Gary J. Barnhill, Carol Simmons, Sharon K. Hadley of Jacksonville, Kim Crawford, and her husband, Joe, of Raleigh and Rita Richardson of Charlotte; Very Special Friend, Janie Pulley; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and one special nephew, Larry Barnhill, of Hallsboro.

Margaret Allen Danenberg
Margaret Allen Danenberg, 66, of Youngsville, died Thursday, August 26, 2010, at Triad Care & Rehab Center in High Point.
he was born in Durham County, the daughter of the late Marvin Cardin Allen and Mary Elizabeth Agee Allen.
A memorial service was held at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, August 29, 2010, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Spence officiating.
Mrs. Danenberg is survived by her children, Flora Danenberg of Winston-Salem, Doris Pearce and husband, Bobby, of Youngsville and Danny Danenberg and wife, Jennifer, of Youngsville; grandchildren, Justin Danenberg, Bobby Pearce Jr., Steven Danenberg, Lee Thomas, Brandon Thomas, Alex Thomas and Felicia Thomas; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Danenberg, and grandson, Jonathan Pearce.

Helen Dorthea Babbin
Helen Dorthea Babbin, 99, of Raleigh, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at Universal Health Care.
he was born December 30, 1910, in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of the late Harvey and Laura Etta Teats Watts. She had been a resident of Maine for 70 years.
A memorial service was held at 11 o’clock Saturday morning, August 28, 2010, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary McNair officiating.
Mrs. Babbin is survived by her daughter, Laurie E. Barnes of Raleigh; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, David Paul; daughter, Iris Dawn Avery; sister, Grace Violet Obrien; brother, James Watts; two granddaughters and one grandson.

Cynthia Jeanne Steinway
Cynthia Jeanne Steinway, 53, of Wake Forest died Monday, August 23, 2010, at her residence.
he was born in Pinellas County, Fla., and was a manager for Sally Beauty Supply Company for over 20 years. Mrs. Steinway was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was married to Douglas Steinway, who preceded her in death.
A graveside funeral service was held at noon on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at the Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury.
he is survived by her mother, Jeanne Wagner of Seminole, Fla.,; sisters, Debi Wagner of Jacksonville, Fla., Janet Burris of McKinney, Texas, and Jill Fuson and husband, Jim, of Greenville, S.C.; four nephews and two nieces.
