Dorothy Edwards Riley
Dorothy Edwards Riley, 71, of 360 Burnette Road, Louisburg, died Monday, July 5, 2010, at her home.
he was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late Bryan and Ruth Ayscue Edwards, and was a member of Union View Baptist Church in Franklinton.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, July 7, 2010, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Clyde Waiden and the Rev. David Averette officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Riley is survived by her husband, William C. Riley; sisters, Helen Stallings of Raleigh and Mary Leonard of Rolesville; brother, Jerry Edwards of Wake Forest; and several nieces and nephews.

Anne Stark Inscoe
Anne Stark Inscoe, 80, of Youngsville, died Sunday, July 4, 2010, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh after her battle with cancer.
he is survived by her husband of 61 years, Philip G. Inscoe; and her children, Emily Jo Turnage, Jerrianne Inscoe Harvey and Rob Harvey, all of Wake Forest. She was preceded in death by her son, Phil Stark Inscoe.

Charlie Herman "Papa" Cross Jr.
Charlie Herman "Papa" Cross Jr., 87, of 624 Walter Ridge Drive, Wake Forest, died on Saturday, July 3, 2010.
Mr. Cross was born on September 18, 1922, to the late Charlie H. Cross Sr. and Nellie Jones Cross.
He is currently a member of Woodland Baptist Church and a former member of Highland Baptist Church for 45 years. He retired from the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, July 6, 2010, at Highland Baptist Church with the Rev. Bryan Chapman, the Rev. Dr. Tommy Seedorf and the Rev. Carlton McDaniel Sr. officiating. Entombment was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Cross is survived by his wife of 67 years, Evelyn Choplin Cross; sons, Leonard Cross and wife, Debby, and Robbie Cross and wife, Sue, all of Raleigh, Gene Cross and wife, Kim, of Wake Forest and Kerry Cross and wife, Kimberly, of Castle Hayne; grandchildren, Melandie Matthews and husband, Mike, Michele Oates and husband, Bill, and Erin Gross and husband, Ted, all of Raleigh, Travis Cross of Clayton, Braxton Cross and wife, Kari, and Taylor Cross, all of Wake Forest, Kyle Cross and Korey Cross, both of Castle Hayne; great-grandchildren, Bailey and Kendall Oates and Macey and Marlee Matthews; siblings Sanford Cross and wife, Natalie, of Cary, Pearl Johnson of Wendell and E.H. Cross and wife, Dot, of Raleigh; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Missouri Poole, Frank Cross, Lydia Watkins, Mary Newton and Lizzie Carter.

Linda Mangum Walker
Linda Mangum Walker, 68, of the Falls Community passed peacefully to Heaven on June 30, 2010.
he worked for Corning Glass for 25 years and was a lifelong member of Falls Baptist Church.
he was the oldest child of Sam and Esther Mangum, who predeceased her, as did her sister, Bonnie Pearce, and nephew, Richard Davis
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, July 3, 2010, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Cecil Wilkes and the Rev. Brad Mobley officiating. Burial was in the Falls Community Cemetery.
Mrs. Walker is survived by her children, Lisa and Sam Walker; daughter-in-law, Kim; her very loved grandchildren, Cody, Brittany and Katie; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Lenora Mangum; and sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Earl Davis. She is also survived by her aunt, Nola Mae Murray; nieces, Robin Pearce House-Reynolds, Carolyn Davis Smith; nephew, Jay Pearce; and cousins, Jeanette and Marvin Perry, Brenda Truelove and Danny and Ruth Murray.
Pallbearers were R. L. Harris, Mike Harris, Charles Franks, Danny Bradford, Larry Ray and Travis Perry.

George T. “Tommy” McPhaul Sr.
George Thomas “Tommy” McPhaul Sr., 81, of 1710 Farm Ridge Road, Wake Forest, died on June 30, 2010.
He was born on December 17, 1928, to the late James Ernest McPhaul and Marion Toon McPhaul.
Mr. McPhaul was a retired veteran of the United States Army, having served in Japan, Germany, Korea and Vietnam. After retirement, he became a lifetime member of the VFW. He was also a member of Heritage Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 1 o’clock Saturday afternoon, July 3, 2010, at Heritage Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Allen officiating. Burial will take place in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
urvivors include wife, Carol Sachse McPhaul; son, George T. “Tom” McPhaul Jr. and wife, Katie of Charlotte; daughter, Ann Patterson and husband, John, of Wake Forest; sister, Fay Van Hoy and husband, Bob, of Oak Island; grandchildren, Bethany Cox & husband, Dan of the Outer Banks and Joanna Patterson of Wake Forest; sister-in-law, Jane McPhaul of Southern Pines; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Mr. McPhaul was preceded in death by his brothers, Ernest McPhaul, Claude McPhaul, John McPhaul, and by his sister, Jean Emslie.
