Robert Prescott Pace
August 28, 1927 – March 8, 2010
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Robert Prescott Pace on Monday, March 8, 2010. He died peacefully at his home.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Rollins Pace; his daughter, Patricia Pace Doyle of Cary; and an aunt and several cousins in Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob Woodard Pace and Addie Bowen Pace.
Bob was born and raised in Norfolk, Va. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the AG section of Headquarters, 13th Air Force, Philippines. He received a BS degree in business and economics from the College of William and Mary and a degree in marketing from Richmond Professional Institute. His career included many years in marketing and real estate in the oil industry throughout Virginia and North Carolina. The balance of his career was primarily in real estate development. He held positions at Davidson & Jones Inc., North Hills Inc, and Ammons Inc. in Raleigh. In semi-retirement, Bob and Donna operated NorthWind Properties Inc. in Wake Forest.
Giving back to his community was part of Bob’s being. Included in these many activities was Wake County Economic Development Commission; founding President of Wake Forest Business & Industry Partnership; former Director of the Chambers of Commerce in Raleigh, Cary and Wake Forest. He served as President of both North Raleigh Rotary Club and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of NC and SC. In support of his passion for his chosen career in real estate, Bob held international office in the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) and was a past president of BOMA Carolinas-Virginia and BOMA Southern Region. He was the Chairman of the Advisory Board of North State Bank of Wakefield as well as a former Board member of BB&T in Cary.
Bob was young at heart. His positive attitude and zest for life were contagious. As a master storyteller, he brought smiles to all he met – and he never met a stranger. One of his greatest joys was spending time by the ocean. He will live forever in our hearts.
Bob was a dedicated charter member of Wake Forest Presbyterian Church where he served as a founding Elder. He had numerous leadership roles on various committees including Moderator of Church Development and Evangelism of New Hope Presbytery.
Visitation will be at Bright Funeral Home in Wake Forest on Wednesday evening, March 10, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Services honoring Bob’s life will be held at Wake Forest Presbyterian Church ( www.wakeforestpres.org ) on Thursday, March 11, at 2 p.m. There will be a reception at the Church following graveside services at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
