Richard Howard Murray
Richard Howard Murray, 61, of 5011 Tyne Drive, Durham, died Saturday, February 13, 2010, at his home.
He was born in Wake County, the son of the late Ada Denton Murray and Millard Murray, and was a former machinist at Schrader.
Funeral services were held at 1 o’clock Monday, February 15, 2010, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Spencer Chamberlain officiating. Burial was in Beulah Christian Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Murray is survived by his wife, Gail Murray; sisters, Joyce Murray of Zebulon, Bonnie Perry of Zebulon and Myrtle “Squeaky” Satterwhite of Franklinton; nephew, Joey Lopez; and special friend, Faye Roberson of Henderson. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Bill Murray.

Pallbearers were Steven Carlisle, Dennis Murray, Taylor Satterwhite, Dustin Satterwhite, Tracy Moye and James Arnold.

Jewel Stevens Clark
Jewel Stevens Clark, 68, of Louisburg passed away at her residence on Friday, February 12, 2010, surrounded by her loving family and her dog, Izzy.
Jewel was born in Pecks Mill, West Virginia, and graduated from Logan High School in 1959 and Lenoir Community College in 1992 with an A.A.S. Degree.
Jewel was a homemaker until the children were older and worked at the Employment Security Commission in the legal department in Raleigh. Jewel also was the Retirement Benefits Administrator for Walter Kidde, Inc. She owned and operated Clark’s Court Reporting. Upon retirement Jewel went to work at the Wal-Mart in Wake Forest, with her good friend Craig Blackburn in the Paint and Hardware Department.
Jewel liked spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed playing Skip-Bo with her daughter Betty Leigh, best friend Pat Jones and her loving nieces Jody Elliott and Tammy Clark.
Ms. Clark was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Nile Clark, her father Eddie Lee Stevens, and her mother Vesta Lee Stevens.
Ms. Clark is survived by her children Jimmie Wayne Clark (Bonnie) of Wake Forest, Dennis Clyde Barker of Pecks Mill, W.Va., Judy Michelle Will (KJ) of Youngsville, and Betty Leigh Pearce (Scott) of Youngsville, and her loving dog, Isabella (Izzy) of the home. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Cody Dalton Hilton of the home, Carson James Hilton, Amanda Leigh Pearce, and John Dillon Will of Youngsville, Levi Barker of Pecks Mill, W.Va., Nick and Steven Barker of Palm Bay, Fla. Sister Betty Curry (Robert) of Fairborn, Ohio, Arthur Stevens (Patricia) of Dallas, Ga., Scotty Stevens (Brenda) of St. Albans, W.Va., Sammy Stevens (Barbara) of Charleston, W.Va., Tony Stevens (Valerie) of Albany, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews and her best friend Patricia Jones of Louisburg.
Jewel had a contagious smile, humorous personality and lived life to the fullest. This is a time to celebrate and remember Jewel as a loving mother, mommaw, sister, aunt, and friend. May the twinkle in her eyes remain a memory in your heart.
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home on Saturday, February 20, 2010, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends and family 30 minutes prior to the memorial service. A private burial will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Pecks Mill, W.Va.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. George Moore, Jr. and Nurse Donna Garner of Wake Forest Family Medicine. The dedication, care, and understanding that Jewel received was exceptional and beyond expectations. We greatly appreciate it. Mildred Marie Varon
Mildred Marie Varon, 94, of Wake Forest, died Thursday, February 11, 2010, at WakeMed. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late Bertha Schultz Dreher and Charles Dreher, and attended North Wake Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock, Sunday, February 14, 2010, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial was in Wake Forest Cemetery.
Mrs. Varon is survived by her children, Gene Ostby and wife, Maxine, of Wake Forest and Ardi Kimlin and husband, Edward; grandchildren, Dana Ostby and wife, Sue, of Arroyo Grande, Calif., Rev. Mark Ostby and wife, Tammy, of Youngsville, Kent Ostby and wife, Kradan, of Marietta, Ga., Edward Kimlin and wife, Lauren, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Michael Botchan and wife, Ronda, of Granada Hills, Calif.; and grandchildren, Karis, Alisha, Nicko, Caleb, Trudi, Nathan, Jordan, Logan, Lauren and Ronnie.

Dr. Albert N. Corpening
Dr. Albert N. Corpening, 79, of Youngsville, died Tuesday evening, February 9, 2010, at his home. He was born in Upland, Penn., the son of the late Opal Carter Corpening and Albert N. Corpening Sr.
Dr. Corpening was a 1952 graduate of Wake Forest College and a 1955 graduate of Bowman Gray School of Medicine. He interned at DePaul Hospital in Norfolk and volunteered for Naval Service in 1958. He served as Medical Officer in the Atlantic Fleet Destroyer Group with the rank of naval lieutenant. After his residency in Ob-GYN, he came to Youngsville and served as a family physician for forty-five years.
He delivered over one thousand babies, cared for hospital patients, and made numerous house calls. During this time he served as Chief of Staff at Wake Forest Hospital and served on the Executive Committee of Wake Medical Center. He was a Charter Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and a Diplomate of the Board of Family Practice.
Dr. Corpening retired in 2003 and was currently serving as a Youngsville Town Commissioner and a Director of the Wake Forest College Birthplace Society. He was active in Youngsville Baptist Church serving as a deacon, trustee, Sunday school teacher, and choir member.
A memorial service honoring his life was held at 11 o’clock Monday morning February 15, 2010, at Youngsville Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Stratton officiating.
Dr. Corpening is survived by his wife, Mary Charlie Patterson Corpening; children, Kelly Corpening Thornton and husband, Robert, of Marietta, Ga., Charles Albert Corpening and wife, Sally, of Winston-Salem and Mary Camille Klass and husband, Hillary, of Badin; sister, Elizabeth Young of Davis, Calif.; grandchildren, Taylor Patterson Thornton, Mary Carter Thornton, William Pierce Corpening, Charles Allen Corpening, Dixon Briggs Klass and Christian Penn Klass.

Margie Alford Keith
Marjorie “Margie” Alford Keith, 82, of Wake Forest, died Tuesday afternoon February 9, 2010, at Britthaven Nursing Center in Louisburg.
he was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late Candice Pearce Alford and Patrick Luther Alford, and was married to James F. Keith who preceded her in death. Margie was co-founder of the Fork’s Lunchroom and James Keith Barbecue.
Funeral services were held at 4 o’clock Monday afternoon February 15, 2010, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Vassar and the Rev. Billy Tharrington officiating. Entombment was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
he is survived by her daughter, Karen Winstead and husband, Don, of Wake Forest; sons, Jimmy Keith and wife, Hope, and Patrick Keith and wife, Allison, of Wake Forest; sister, Evelyn Horton and husband, Buddy, of Wake Forest; brother, Junior Alford and wife, Tap, of Wake Forest; grandchildren, James Foster Keith III and wife, Kathy, Kimberly Freeman and husband, Mitch, Patrick Luther Keith II and Samuel Caleb Keith; step-granddaughter, Dawn Winstead; and six great-grandchildren.

Earline Coatwright Horton
Earline Coatwright Horton, 89, of Raleigh, formerly of Shreveport, La., died Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at Wake Medical Center.
he was born in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of the late Ella Crofts Coatwright and Ross Coatwright. She was married to her husband of 50 years, Frank W. Horton, who preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon February 13, 2010, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Shreveport, La., where she had been a dedicated member for many years with the Rev. Terry Love officiating. Burial was in Forest Park West Cemetery.
Mrs. Horton is survived by her daughters, Katie Chimenti and husband, Ed, of Houston Texas, and Maggie Andersen and husband, Derek, of Wake Forest; grandchildren, Paul Spray and wife, Jessica, Missy Speight and husband, Jeff, and Kristen Webb and husband, James; and great-grandchildren, Morgan, Wyatt and Owen.
