Suzanne C. Benjamin
Emily Suzanne Cooper Benjamin, 63, of Wake Forest, passed away February 7, 2010, at home in Wake Forest.
uzanne enjoyed associations and competition in tennis at the Raleigh Racquet Club. She was a member of the Wake Forest Presbyterian Church and the Wake Forest Baptist Church. Suzanne taught at Millbrook High School (1985-2007) and retired from teaching in 2007. She enjoyed traveling with the love of her life, Don Benjamin. They met in 1986 and married in 1988.
uzanne was preceded in death by her mother and father, Gladys and A.R. Cooper. She is survived by her husband, Donald Benjamin; her brothers, David Cooper and his wife, Cathi, Dr. Donald Cooper and his wife, Sharon, and Dr. Joel Cooper. She also leaves behind many loving relatives and friends in Georgia and Tennessee.
A memorial service will be held in Wake Forest, NC at the Bright Funeral Home at 1 o’clock on Saturday afternoon, February 13, 2010. Following the service there will be a Celebration of Life at the Wake Forest Presbyterian Church from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM.

Virginia McDougald Meiburg
Virginia McDougald Meiburg of Wake Forest died on Saturday February 6, 2010, in the Health Center of Springmoor Retirement Community in Raleigh after a six-week illness.
he was born in Hickory in 1924. Following high school in Sumter, S.C., she entered the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Charlotte, graduating in 1945. She earned a B.S. in sociology at Limestone College while serving as infirmary nurse and returned to Presbyterian Hospital as instructor in nursing. She also taught nursing at the Kentucky Baptist Hospital in Louisville.
Her nursing career included directing the infirmary at Wingate College and visiting sick kindergarten children as nurse on a research team from the University of Pennsylvania. For a number of years she was a member of the Wake County Nursing Home Advisory Committee, making random visits to nursing homes. She and her husband were instrumental in establishing the first support group in Raleigh for families of patients with Alzheimer’s disease.
Mrs. Meiburg is survived by her husband of 59 years, Albert Meiburg; a sister, Annie Holt of Asheville; three children, Albert Stanley Meiburg of Atlanta, Ga., Katherine Meiburg Whatley of Rome, Ga., and David McDougald Meiburg of Cary; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 1 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, February 10, 2010, at Wake Forest Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary Cemetery.

Janice Virginia Mack
Janice Virginia Mack, 54, of Hubert, NC, died Friday, February 5, 2010. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the Mildred Moore Perry and the late Samuel Sebastian Perry. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services were held at 1 o’clock Wednesday, February 10, 2010, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial was in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Mack is survived by her husband, Gary Mack; daughters, Tollie Cochran Rivera and husband, Enrico Rivera Jr., of Hubert, and Sammi Jo Huntley and husband, William Hudson Huntley III of Kailua, Hawaii; mother, Mildred Moore Perry and husband, Milroy Jay Greenier, of Hubert; sister, Deborah Denise Coats and husband, Joseph Coats III; and grandchildren, Janice M. Cochran and Landon A. Trott.

Rodney V. Byard
Rodney V. Byard, 81, of Wake Forest, died Thursday, February 4, 2010, at Springmoor Health Center in Raleigh. He was born in Columbus, Ga., the son of the late Ethel Mae Cotton Byard and William E. Byard.
Mr. Byard had served as a minister of education at Swope Park Baptist Church in Kansas City and First Baptist Church in Winston-Salem and served as Assistant to the President for Public Relations at Southeastern Seminary in Wake Forest. He served as a Wake Forest Town Commissioner for 10 years.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2010, in the Springmoor Life Care Community Auditorium, 1500 Sawmill Road, Raleigh, NC 27615.
Mr. Byard is survived by his wife, Nancy F. Byard; daughters, Rebecca B. Whitwam and husband, Robert, of Kernersville, Jennifer B. Talley and husband, Robert, of Wake Forest and Amy B. Huneycutt and husband, David, of Houston, Texas; brother, William E. Byard Jr.; and seven grandchildren

Ruth Gilmore Clarke
Ruth Gilmore Clarke of Raleigh was born March 16, 1914, in Huntington, W.Va. She is the widow of William Harry Clarke, a Baptist minister who she faithfully supported and admired throughout his ministry in Indiana, Virginia, and Mississippi and as a member of the North Carolina Baptist Convention Christian Education staff.  
he leaves behind two sons, David Lloyd and William Harry Jr.; their wives, Mary and Mary Beth; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A devoted homemaker, she still found opportunities to use her Marshall University education to teach high school English and Latin in Mississippi and Virginia and elementary school in Virginia. Her considerable talents in music and art were used in her Christian service to her churches and her communities. 
he was a member of the Rolesville Baptist Church and would sum up her faith by quoting her favorite old hymn, “Trusting as the moments fly, Trusting as the days go by; Trusting Him what e’re befall, Trusting Jesus, that is all!” Such was the life of Ruth Clarke.
Funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Saturday morning, February 6, 2010, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Randy Bridges officiating. Burial was in the Florida National Cemetery in Brandon, Florida.

Grady W. Perry Sr.
Grady Wayne Perry Sr., 59, of 133 Martinhill Drive, Youngsville, died Monday, February 8, 2010, at his home.
He was born in Wake County, the son of the late Maggie Denton Perry and Millard Furney Perry, and was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, February 11, 2010, at Flat Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary McNair officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Kaye H. Perry; sons, Grady Perry Jr. and wife, Dana, of Louisburg and Chris Perry and wife, Amber, of Bunn; sisters, Janie Pulley and Faye Tant of Rolesville; brother, Marvin Perry of Rolesville; and grandchildren, Cody Young, Colton Young, Ethan Young, Layton Perry, Julia Perry, Shalyn Perry and Caleb Perry. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shannon Perry Young.
Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 8:30 Wednesday evening at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 405 S. Main St., Wake Forest.
