Rachel Davis
Grace Rachel Davis, 83, of 4729 Graham Sherron Road, Wake Forest, beloved wife and mother, passed into the loving arms of her Lord Sunday November 1, 2009, at her residence.
he was born in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Mae Mitchell Privette and Rainey Privette. She worked tirelessly as a mother, homemaker and partner to her husband. She will always be especially remembered by those who loved and knew her for her positive attitude, determination, faith and kindness. Her ability to find happiness and satisfaction in her everyday life was truly inspirational.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, November 4, 2009, at Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Davis is survived by her husband of 53 years, Charlie H. Davis; the pride and joy of her life, daughter, Betty Grace Hight Denton and son-in-law, Dwight Denton of Louisburg; four brothers; and one sister.

Emma Ruth Milton Denton
Emma Ruth Denton, 88, of Wake Forest, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, completed her earthly journey and entered eternal rest on November 1, 2009.
he was predeceased by her husband Matthew Denton, father, mother, and step-mother, Joseph, Ozellar, and Hettie Milton; sisters, Gladys Cox, Ruby Greenway, Virgie Blackley; brother Jewel Milton; and son-in-law, Jimmy Ware.
Emma Ruth spent many happy hours providing childcare for the children of working parents.
Funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Tuesday morning, November 3, 2009, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Randy Bridges officiating. Burial was in Beulah Christian Baptist Cemetery.
Mrs. Denton is survived by her daughters, Louise Mitchell (Charles), Peggy Ware and Becky Keith (Sammy); son, Glenn Denton (Carolyn), all of Rolesville; four grandchildren Debbie Sauls, Eddie Keith, Dana Dunn and Matthew Denton, four great-grandchildren, Trey Stotesbury, Adam Keith, Ryan Sauls and Sarah Keith; and sisters, Mamie Muir and Josie Brummitt of Florida.

Katie L. Jackson
Katie L. Jackson, 73, of 8604 Stonegate Drive, Raleigh, died Saturday, October 31, 2009, at Duke Raleigh Hospital. She was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late Rufus A. Leonard and Iva Keith Leonard, and was a member of Falls Baptist Church. Mrs. Jackson was a school bus driver for the Wake County Public School Transportation Department.
Funeral services were held at 3 o’clock, Tuesday afternoon, November 3, 2009, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by her husband, Cliff Jackson; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Jackson of Savannah, Ga.; son, Craig Philip Jackson of Wake Forest; and brother, Rufus Nelson Leonard of Wake Forest.

Carolyn Dowdy Denson
Carolyn Dowdy Denson, 75, of 941 Pocomoke Road, Franklinton, died Friday, October 30, 2009, at her residence. She was born in Lynchburg, VA., the daughter of the late Arleen Bell Dowdy and William H. Dowdy, and was a retired financial analyst with IBM.
Funeral services were held at 1 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, November 3, 2009, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. David Averette and the Rev. Don Ward officiating. Entombment was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Denson is survived by her husband, Rawlings L. Denson Sr.; sons, R.L. Denson Jr. and wife, Gwen, and Barry Denson and wife, Donna, all of Franklinton; granddaughter, Michelle Denson and fiancé, Stephen Bolt, of Belmont; sister, Betty Neff of Lynchburg, VA.; seven step-grandchildren and eleven step-great-grandchildren; and caregiver JoAnn Wiedyk. She is preceded in death by her brother, William Dowdy of Lynchburg, Va.

Eleanor J. “Ellie” Atteridg
Eleanor Jane “Ellie” Atteridg, 78, of 603 Long Melford Drive, Rolesville, died Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at her home. She was born in Binghamton, N.Y., the daughter of the late Alma Decker Smith and Henry Clay Smith.
A memorial service was held at 11 o’clock Monday morning, November 2, 2009, at Wake Forest United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Atteridg is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bob Atteridg; daughters, Linda Atteridg of Albuquerque, N.M., and Pam Atteridg Warner of Raleigh; grandchildren, Jennifer Warner and Matthew Warner both of Raleigh; and sister, Helen Samson of Binghamton, N.Y.

Preston “Dick” Perry
Preston “Dick” Perry, 80, of 1345 Darius Pearce Road, Youngsville, died Thursday afternoon, October 29, 2009, at Britthaven of Louisburg. He was born in Franklin County, the son of the late Leassie Denton Perry and Otis Perry.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, November 1, 2009, at Beulah Christian Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Mike Jones and the Rev. Ronald Harris officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Perry is survived by his wife, Kathleen A. Perry; nieces, Rebecca Chalup and husband, Robert, and Angie Ratjan and husband, Charles, all of Richmond, Texas; two great-nieces and one great-nephew; and two foster sisters, Dorothy Buffaloe of Zebulon and Mary Ruth Haley of Oxford. Mr. Perry was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Perry.
Pallbearers were Tim Matthews, Arthur Kearney, Calvin Richardson, Herbert Alford, Jr., Jason Buffaloe and James Woodruff.

William Douglas Lowery
William Douglas Lowery, 68, of Youngsville, gave up a courageous three-year-battle with colon and liver cancer on October 28, 2009.
Doug was a simple man who loved God, his family, nature, children, fishing, sports, and animals. He exemplified his savior, Jesus Christ, through his strength, love, and compassion. He was a dedicated Christian and husband and the best daddy and granddaddy ever. He was also beloved by many as “Uncle Doug.” Doug was a loyal member of Landmark Baptist Church. He served in the United States Air Force and worked for many years at ABB.
urviving are his wife of 46 years, Shirley Dean Strickland Lowery of the home; daughter, Amy Myers and husband, Jeff, and granddaughter Abigail, all of Youngsville; sister, Elaine Ross of Wake Forest; aunt, Henrietta Lowery of Wake Forest; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 31, 2009, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Craig Currin officiating. Burial was in the Youngsville Cemetery.
Doug was predeceased by a baby girl, Dilly Canden, his daddy and mama, William and Zola Gilleland Lowery, and a brother, Clifton Lowery.

The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Wehbie and his staff for the compassionate and professional care they provided Doug throughout his entire illness. Additionally the family thanks the oncology nurses and Hospice of Wake County staff on Fifth Floor at Rex Hospital for the care provided during his final days.
Pallbearers were Scott Ross, Gar Ayscue, Eddie Tomlinson, Bud Lowery, Dwayne Ross, Nolan Lowery and Bill Lowery.
