Rosa Bell Pulley
Rosa Bell Pulley, 91, of Wake Forest, died Monday September 28, 2009, at Rex Hospital.
She was born in Franklin County, the daughter of Frank Bell and Sallie Gene Bell, and was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Dempsey Pulley. Mrs. Pulley was a homemaker and a member of New Life Church.
Funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning September 30, 2009, at New Life Church with the Rev. Ron Brisson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Pulley is survived by her daughter, Frances P. Barnes and husband, Harold, of Wake Forest; a son, David Pulley and wife, Carolyn, of Wake Forest; and step-grandson, David Barnes.

Tony Long
Anthony Kevin “Tony” Long, 52, of Youngsville, died Thursday morning, September 24, 2009.
He was born in Baltimore, Md., the son of the late Carolyn Merritt Long and Noah Long, and was a veteran of the United States Marines. Tony was a supervisor with Majestic Marble & Glass and a participant in the No Rules Riders motorcycle rider group.
A celebration of Tony's life will be held at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, October 2, 2009, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Casual dress is requested. The family will receive friends following the service at the Long home.
Mr. Long is survived by his wife of 27 years, Nancy Vincent Long; daughter, Miranda Nichol Long and boyfriend, Chuck, of Youngsville; son, A.J. of Youngsville; sister, Teresa Jackson and husband, James, of Harrells; brother, J.D. Long of Raleigh; sister-in-law, Carole Merkerson and husband, Jim, of Wilmington; and many extended family and friends.

Marie Kinton Perry
Marie Kinton Perry, 81, of Rolesville, died Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at Duke Health Raleigh Hospital.
She was born in Franklin County to the late Lillian Newton Kinton and Bennie Kinton.
Mrs. Perry was a member of Harris Chapel Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher, member of the Joy Club and a member of the Church Choir.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock, Saturday, September 26, 2009, at Harris Chapel Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Perry is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Linwood Perry; and her brothers, Garland, Dennis, Marshall, Bruce and Willard.

Bruce Allen Sr.
Bruce Earl Allen Sr., formerly of Wake Forest, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Newport on Friday Sept 25, 2009.
He left behind a loving wife, Carolyn M Allen; children, Bruce Allen Jr. and wife, Wanda, and Marty Allen; step-children, Yvonne Ball, Brad, David and Timmy Sherron; grandchildren, Blake, Adam, Alyssa, Clayton and Marcus Allen; step-grandson Keith Ball; two great-grandchildren, Michael Allen and Emerson Ball; siblings, Donald Allen, Ricky Allen, Tim Allen, Bobbie Driver, Mary Alice Jones, Betty Sue Berry and Glenda Moody.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, Leamon and Myrtle Allen; his son, Rex Allen; and his brothers, Leamon Allen Jr., Clayton Allen and Kenneth Allen.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Douglas Carl Steinway
Douglas Carl Steinway, 60, of Wake Forest, went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 19, 2009.
He was born in Appleton, Wisconsin, the son of Joyce Steinway and the late Richard Melvin Steinway. Mr. Steinway was a security guard with Security Forces, Inc.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon September 24, 2009, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with Rev. Gary McNair officiating. Burial was in the Salisbury National Cemetery.
Mr. Steinway is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Cynthia Steinway; mother, Joyce Steinway of Appleton, Wisconsin; and brother Rick Steinway and his wife, Martha, of Neenah, Wisconsin.

Katherine K. Freeman
Katherine Alma Kearney Freeman, 49, of Franklinton, passed away Saturday September 19, 2009, at her residence. Kathy’s spirit is at rest in Heaven after battling cancer the past two and a half years.
She will be remembered as a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and RN. She was a Graduate of Franklinton High School and of Vance Granville Community College with an associate degree in nursing (RN).
Katherine is survived by her husband, Albert Freeman; sons, Derrick and Nathan Freeman; parents, Henry Hal Kearney and Faye Ellington Kearney; sister, Alisa Medlin wife of Tim Medlin and mother of Ethan Medlin; sister, Sharon Jones, wife of Mike Jones and mother of Bridgette Jones and Chloe Jones; and grandmother, Pearl Ellington.
Memorial services were held on Sunday afternoon, September 27, 2009, at 4 p.m. at Popes Chapel United Church of Christ, 1237 Pocomoke Road, Franklinton, NC 27525.
