Billy Charles Harris

                Billy Charles Harris, 74, of Zebulon died July 29, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Wake County to the late Miller Rose Harris and Claudia Carter Harris. Mr. Harris was a veteran of the National Guard and a member of Beulah Christian Baptist Church.
                Funeral services were held at 3 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, August 1, 2012, at Buelah Christian Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Sneed and the Rev. Phil Brantley officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
                Mr. Harris is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sue Pearce Harris; daughter, Rita Harris Cox and husband, Ron, of Louisburg; son, Billy W. Harris and wife, Toni, of Rolesville; sister, Phyllis Strickland and husband, Thomas, of Rolesville; brother, Ronald Harris and wife, Kaye, of Wake Forest; and grandchildren, Ryan Cox, Reid Cox, Wesley Harris and Courtney Harris.

Linwood ‘Lin’ White
                Linwood “Lin” Lewis White of Rolesville died on July 29, 2012, at the age of 68 after a brief courageous battle with cancer. Born on January 19, 1944, in Youngsville, he was the won of the late Foster and Lillie (Rogers) White.
                Lin worked in power and automation technologies at Westinghouse, later known as The ABB Group, for 39 years. Upon retirement he transported cars for the Chris Leith car Dealership. Lin and Patricia would travel all over the Southeast, visiting different cities delivering and picking up new cars. He was an avid vegetable gardener, cook and fisherman, and was especially skillful with machinery and do-it-yourself projects. Lin was quick with his warm smile and never met a person who didn’t become a friend fast. He enjoyed spending time relaxing with friends and family at his second home at Lake Royale near Bunn, treating them to his homemade ice cream and fish fries.
                Funeral services were held at 3 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, August 1, 2012, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Wallace officiating. Burial was in Rolesville Baptist Church Cemetery.
                Lin is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patricia (Pearce) White of Rolesville; his son, Rick (Ann) of Rolesville; sister, Gladys (Charles) Tyndall of Ft. Mill, S.C.; brothers, Shelton (Frankie), Calvin (Dianne) and Marvin White, all of Youngsville; a large extended family and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence.
                The family would like to thank the medical staff at Rex Healthcare for their compassion and capable care.

Lola T. Bailey
                Lola T. Bailey of Raleigh went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 28, 2012, after an 18-month battle with cancer. She has truly been an inspiration to us all by her faith, strength an dpositive attitude through it all. She was a wonderful wife and a loving, supportive mother.
                Lola was born on Oct. 23, 1935, in Johnston County to Willie and Annie Twigg. She attended Campbell College and completed a one-year business degree. After graduation, she married her husband and moved to the Bay Leaf community. She spent most of her career as a bookkeeper, but she also worked at the Kmart Pharmacy part-time for many years. She knew most of the customers well and enjoyed taking care of them. She was also an active member of Bay Leaf Baptist Church for 55 years. She taught Sunday School, the Gas and especially enjoyed taking care of the babies. We will always remember her bright smile.
                She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jerry Bailey; son, Edward Bailey; daughter, Gina Bunch and her husband, Paul; brother, David Twigg and wife, Jenny; and grandchildren, Candace, Molly, Quentin and Chelsea. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ralph Edward Twigg.
                We would like to say a special thanks to the Bay Leaf Baptist Church members for all the love, support, prayers and meals they provided. We would also like to thank Heartland Hospice for all their care and support as well.
                Funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, August 1, 2012, at Bay Leaf Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

George Thomas Custer
                George Thomas Custer, 47, of Henderson died Friday, July 27, 2012. He was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., the son of Louis Petty Custer and the late Donald Custer. He was a project manager for Nobel Resources and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
                Funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, August 1, 2012, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan Skinner officiating. Burial was in Wake Forest Cemetery.
                Mr. Custer is survived by his wife, Jackie Custer; sons, James Kyle Custer of Henderson, Shawn Mitchell Custer of Louisburg and Matthew Thomas Custer of Henderson; mother, Lois Petty Custer of  Houston, Texas; brother, James Custer of Texas; sisters, Lois Marsh and Alice Ralph, both of Texas; and grandchildren, Trinity and Seth Custer.

Dixie Kaye Gill Elm
                A sparkling light is gone from our world, gone to be with the Father. Dixie Kaye Gill Elm, formerly of Wake Forest, died July 25, 2012, in Louisville, Colorado, where she had lived for many years. She was born in Raleigh to Hubert Seaton Gill Jr. and Sara Frances Eaddy Gill, who preceded her in death as did her brother, Hubert Seaton Gill III.
                She is survived by her sister, Annette Gill Seidel and her husband, Richard, of Morehead City; her brother, Randolph Eaddy Gill and his wife, Charlene, of San Diego, Calif.; her sister-in-law, Sue Kelly Gill of Garner; her beloved nieces, Sally Seidel Paulding of Stratham, N.H., and Savannah Gill Lapinskes and her husband, Zane, of Garner; beloved nephews, Richard Paul Seidel Jr. and his wife, Claudine, of Wilmette, Ill., and Hubert Seaton Gill IV of Garner; and adored great-nieces and great-nephews, Jessica, Jeremy, Jordan and Connor Paulding, Trevin Van Dyke, Olivia, Walker and Caroline Seidel, Sarah, Benjamin Elijah and Silas Lapinskesas; as well as her former husband, Donald Elm of Superior, Colo.; and much loved step-daughter, Stacy Bas and her two children of Bordeaux, France. She also leaves her dear friends Shirley and Ralph Thompson, Mary Wright and Abraham Campbell and precious kitties, Peppers and Puddy.
                She grew up in the old Raleigh area centered by Blount Street between Capital Square and Peace College and within a block of her grandmother Dixie Gill’s home. She went to Murphey School, just as her father had and sat in Fanny Knight Thomas’ third-grade class as he had too. Hugh Morson Junior High, Needham Broughton High School and Peace College followed as she sparkled her way along, loving having fun, adding friends and special experiences at every turn. She was voted Miss Hugh Morson Junior High, was a cheerleader at Morson and Broughton, danced at Atlantic Beach, worked at Cameron Brown Mortgage Bankers and finally had a career as a flight attendant on United Airlines in Denver, Colo., from 1967 to 1995. Her first and only base was Denver because she fell in love with Colorado and stayed there until now.
                She was the epitome of Southern hospitality, warmth and genuineness. She loved traveling, reading, flowers, dining with friends, hosting home Bible studies and was a gourmet. During her life and illness she had a deep faith and trust in God. Her lifetime of studying the Bible was the lamp unto her feet and a light in her path.
                Funeral services will be held at 3 o’clock Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at Forestville Baptist Church in Wake Forest. Burial will follow in the church cemetery beside her grandfather Hubert Seaton Gill and grandmother Dixie Taylor Dunn Gill.

Geraldine P. Hyatt
                Geraldine Phillips Hyatt, 86, of Rolesville died Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Wake Medical Center. She was born in Graham County, the daughter of the late Mary Thelma Deyton Phillips and Hoke Smith Phillips. She was married to Charlie H. Hyatt, who preceded her in death.
                Funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Saturday morning, July 28, 2012, at Rolesville Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Randy Bridges and the Rev. J. Marshall Neathery officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Murphy.
                Mrs. Hyatt is survived by her daughter, Malinda Wiggins and husband, Taylor, of Rolesville; son, David Hyatt of Rolesville; grandchildren, Chris Wiggins and wife, Carole Ann, and Patrick Wiggins and wife, Julie, all of Rolesville; and five great-grandchildren.

                Pallbearers were Chris Wiggins, Patrick Wiggins, Glenn Scarboro, Mike Anabinett, James Smith and Clair “Huck” Stampp.

 Mary Vic Broughton
                Mary Vic Broughton, 77, of Rolesville passed away Wednesday morning, July 25, 2012, at her home.
                She was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late Forest Hunter Broughton Sr. and Luna Privette. She was a member of Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church and a retired computer analyst with the State of North Carolina.
                Mary Vic will always be remembered as a loving and giving aunt and sister-in-law. Vic regularly made clothes for her nieces in their youth, prepared Sunday lunches for her family members and was affectionately known as “Aunt Snack” to her grandnieces and grandnephews. Her love for her family, church and community will be deeply missed.
                A memorial service was held at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, July 27, 2012, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with Pastor Bryan Brown officiating. Burial was in the Rolesville Baptist Church Cemetery.
                Ms. Broughton is survived by her sister-in-law, Billie Price Broughton of Zebulon; nieces, Debra Goetze and husband, Kenny, of Zebulon and Jackie Broughton of Raleigh; and six grandnieces and grandnephews, Kenneth H. Goetze, Brittany Cantrell, Amanda George, Jacob Goetze, Chelsea Haley and Patrick Goetze.
